Baltic Taste Awards 2024

On September 5 of this year, for the second time in the Baltics, the food quality competition "The Baltic Taste Award 2024" was held at the food industry exhibition "Riga Food" in Ķipsala, where the best products of Latvian, Lithuanian, and Estonian producers competed for medals. An international jury evaluated 90 products in 11 categories.SIA "Unda" won two awards in this competition - a silver medal for "Diplomats Gourmet" sprats in avocado oil, and a bronze medal for "Diplomats Gourmet" sprats in pistachio oil.Professional juryOn September 5, at the Exhibition Center in Ķipsala, an international jury - leading European chefs, bartenders, sommeliers, food technologists - conducted a "blind" tasting and evaluated the products of food producers in the Baltic countries for several hours. The taste, smell, texture and appearance of the products were evaluated, as well as comments and suggestions for product improvement and compatibility with other products. The jury consisted of such world-renowned chefs as Iceland's "Bocuse d'Or" European and World Championship candidate 2022-2023 Sigurjon Bragi Geirsson, the herald of the Lithuanian Sustainability Academy Justins Kapkovičs, Rudolf Visnapuu (Estonia), Tomas Rimīds (Tomas Rimydis) (Lithuania), one of Sweden's best confectioners Franciane Tartari, Estonian President's Chef Taigo Lepik, "Bocuse d'Or" Estonian President Dmitrijs Demjanov, "Bocuse d'Or" Lithuanian President Darius Katins Katinas), chef Tarvo Stints (Tarvo Stint), chef of the restaurant "Dia 36.line", connoisseur of Latvian flavors Lauris Aleksejevs (Latvia), chef of the restaurant "Ferma", Latvian Chef of the Year 2022, winner of the "Bocuse d'Or" Latvian selection and Winner of the "Young Chef" excellence award of the "Michelin" guide Nils Gēvele, food technologist, Latvian University of Biosciences and Technologies professor Inga Ciprovica, one of Latvia's best-known sommeliers Jānis Kaļķis, "Max Cekot Kitchen" sommelier Dmitrijs Sinkevičs, manager of the "Whitehouse" restaurant Inese Vīcupa and c.
